As an ID exercise a previously unknown / unidentified postcard was randomly selected and an exercise undertaken to ID those present against the BofH/red book. 

The starting point was the soldier on the front row 3rd from right holding a bugle. The band photos were searched which identified the soldier on the 17th Bn  band photo. Further checks identified the majority of the soldiers belonging to D. Co. (P083 – P089). Of the 33 soldiers present 22 have been identified in the BofH/red book, including 5 by name - 8198 Pte Arthur Johnson, 8456 Pte A. Blackburn, 8501 Pte Fred Cowman, 8813 Pte Reginald William Pugh and 9168 Pte Adam Armstrong.
