The objective of this sub-project is to is to identify in the Book of Honour (BofH) soldiers that appear in the book “A District at War” (DatW) by Neil Drum and Pete Thomas.
Extracts and information from the book have been reproduced with the kind permission of Pete Thomas and Neil Drum. Special thanks to Pete for supporting this project and providing original .jpg images.
The approach to the project comprised three stages:
1) Identifying soldiers in DatW that are listed as present in BofH
2) Identifying soldiers from 1) above in the BofH using facial recognition software
3) Uploading output to this website.
1) Identifying soldiers in DatW listed in BofH
Soldiers appearing in DatW and listed in the BofH were filtered from a combined spreadsheet (see below). Column J provides the DatW page number and column L provides the BofH page number.
2) Identifying soldiers DatW in the BofH using facial recognition software
