17th Battalion - NCO Photo Assessment [P054- P055]
17th Battalion - NCO Photo Assessment [P054- P055]
Many of the NCOs on this photo are also present on one or more of the other photos in the Book of Honour (see list below). The object of this assessment is to identify (pair) the same soldiers on the NCO photo and on the platoon photos. This will greatly enhance the process of identification of the NCOs.Â
There are 71 NCOs on the photo, but only 70 listed as being present. This is because one of the soldiers appears twice. The soldier @P055 R4 L10 was present on the original photo and has also been "cut-and-pasted" on to the back row @P055 R5 L19. This is the same soldier, confirmed by the facial recognition assessment below:
All of the NCOs present on the NCO photo and one or more platoon photo have been facially identified (paired). Â
There are 71 "faces" and 70 soldiers on P055. 11 of the soldiers are present only on the P055 NCO photo. This leaves 59 soldiers present on the P055 NCO photo and one or more platoon photo. 9369 RQMS Coates and 9089 CSM Haymes appear on 2 platoon photos. The other 57 soldiers appear on the P055 NCO photo and one platoon photo only. This means that there are 61 facial identification that follow (57+2+2):
Summary from the facial recognitions below of how the NCO are distributed across the platoon photographs.
