All of the Bugle Band members on this photo are also present on one or more of the other photos in the Book of Honour (see list below). The object of this assessment is to identify (pair) the same soldiers on the Bugle Band photo and in the platoon photos. This will greatly enhance the process of identification of the Bugle Band members. 

Pte A Rothwell and Pte G Taylor are listed with different service numbers on the Bugle Band and Platoon photo listings and didn't immediately pair up. 

Unlike the 16th Battalion Bugle Band, the band members of the 17th are not holding their instruments on the platoon photos. This means that a search for one face in a band photo of 30 for the 17th is a search for 33 band members in platoon photos of around 1,200 soldiers. This equates to upto 40,000 facial comparisons and required the facial recognition software to be used in conjunction with batch files and work-flows.
