6431 Pte A Russell [P16-P17] (1 of 2)

Identification: 

There are two Bugle Band members listed on P16. One is listed as present on P17 photo - 6431 Pte A Russell and one as not present - 7278 Pte T Hughes. 

However, there are two soldiers holding bugles on the front row of P17 photo @R1 L6 and @R1 L7. 

Both of these soldiers have been checked against the Bugle Band photo P9 using facial recognition software and both have been identified on both P17 and P9.

This became a mystery but eventually solved through the identification of an error in the BofH listings.

There is a J. Brown and a W.I. Brown both listed with the same Reg, Number - 6219. 

J. Brown (6334) is a member of the Bugle Band and was not initially identified because of the incorrect number.

So we can now conclude that the two soldiers identified on P7 and P19 are 6431 Pte A Russell and 6334 Pte J Brown.

7278 Pte T Hughes is not present. 

Further information is required to identify which is which.
